He inherited his skills as a sculptor from his father, Adam Dabrowski, who was an accomplished artist and a master wood carver. Richard also studied sculpture at the National Academy of Design in New York. Since boyhood, Richard has been involved in many forms of art, small intaglio carvings, life size figures for commercial applications, design and manufacture of a line of porcelain ware, pen and ink work and customized wooden jigsaw puzzles. He has also designed widely sold stoneware gift items, as well as fulfilling commissions for work in bronze and terra cotta. His framed giclée prints of original white line engravings of local Maine scenes are a classic favorite in the gallery (see below). At present, he is focusing his talents on the development of relief sculpture. His ability to create works of art by modelling and carving allows variety of applications. He combines intalio carving, (the art of incising or cutting into the medium to show the design, a technique so useful for small scale creations) with robust modeling and casting skills to create a new series of beautiful and original designs. His work is represented by the Morris Trainor Gallery at 17 Ocean Avenue, Kennebunkport Maine 207-967-5900 Mouse over top right/top left of image to see next and previous |
